What is water leak repair?

A pressurized water leak is different from a drain leak. The pipe is under constant pressure, so it loses water twenty-four hours a day whether you are home or not. Under a slab, that water travels along the concrete and shows up far from the actual break.

Common failures in Los Angeles County homes are copper pinholes from old aggressive water, abraded pipe rubbing on rebar under a slab, corroded galvanized supply lines in houses that were never repiped, and split hose bibb or angle stop connections behind appliances.

You get options in writing: spot repair the section, reroute the line overhead through the attic or wall, or repipe the run if the same pipe has already failed more than once. We tell you honestly when a spot repair is buying you a year.

Every repair is pressure-tested before we leave, and we put the work in writing so you have it for your records.

How does it work?

  1. 1

Confirm the leak is on the pressure side

Every fixture is shut and the meter is watched. Continued movement proves loss on the supply side and rules out a running toilet or an irrigation valve.

  2. 2

    Isolate the run

We close valves and pressure-test sections to narrow the leak to hot or cold and to one run of pipe. This alone eliminates most of the house.

  3. 3

    Open the smallest possible access

We open only what the repair needs, protect the surrounding floor and wall, and keep the work area contained.

  4. 4

    Repair, then verify

Spot repair, reroute, or repipe as approved. We re-pressurize, recheck the meter with everything off, and leave the area clean and dry.

Located a slab leak under the hallway with listening equipment and opened one small square of tile. Another company wanted to jackhammer three rooms.

Copper pinhole behind the laundry wall. He explained why the whole run would likely fail and gave me both the patch price and the reroute price.

Bill had doubled and I could not find anything. They found it in about an hour and fixed it the same afternoon.
