What is drain & sewer cleaning?

Drain and sewer cleaning is main line work. A branch drain serves one fixture. The sewer lateral carries everything from the house to the city main, so when it packs up, every fixture on the low side of the house floods at once — usually the tub and the first-floor toilet.

In Los Angeles County the usual culprits are root intrusion at clay joints, hardened grease from decades of kitchen use, and flushable wipes, which are not flushable and knit together into a mat that catches everything behind it.

We open the main cleanout first so the mess stays outside. A sectional or drum machine with a cutting head is run down the lateral to the blockage and worked through it until full flow returns.

Cleaning restores flow. It does not fix a broken pipe. If your line has clogged more than once in a year, ask us to camera it afterward so you find out whether you are paying for cleanings on a pipe that needs repair.

How does it work?

  1. 1

    Open the main cleanout

We locate and open the exterior cleanout serving the lateral. If the house has no accessible cleanout, we tell you before starting and price installing one.

  2. 2

    Cut the blockage out

A cutting head sized to your pipe is fed down the line. Roots get sheared at the joint, grease and wipe mats get chewed apart and pushed to the city main.

  3. 3

    Flood test the line

We run every fixture and a hose into the cleanout to confirm the lateral takes full volume without backing up. Partial flow is not a finished job.

  4. 4

    Camera the pipe on request

For repeat clogs we run the camera afterward so you see whether the cause was a one-time mat or a bellied, cracked, or root-invaded line.

What neighbors say about our drain & sewer cleaning work

Whole house backed up on a Sunday. They opened the cleanout, cut a root ball out, and had us running in about an hour.

Third company to clear this line but the first to camera it after and tell me why it keeps clogging.
